Casa de Asterión [House of Asterion]
Inspired by Jorge Luis Borges's short story of the same name (1947), in which the author subverts the classic myth by giving voice and humanity to the creature once deemed monstrous, the exhibition takes the figure of the Minotaur as its starting point to reimagine notions of monstrosity, identity, and redemption.
From this perspective, the exhibition offers an introspective look at the human condition and our relationship with otherness. Through selected works from the MAMBO Collection, it explores transformation and hybridization through religious, fantastical, and technological lenses, challenging the boundaries between body, machine, and myth. This exhibition was part of the program La colección en escena, which contextualizes works from the collection in light of new conceptual currents. In this case, the public is invited to reconsider what humanity and monstrosity mean in a world in constant transformation.
